Easy Garlic Hummus (oil free + tahini free)

This super easy garlic hummus is oil free and made without tahini! Only 5 ingredients and Bean protocol approved.


  • 3 cups cooked chickpeas, organic (2 cans drained and rinsed)
  • 6 peeled garlic cloves
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice (from 1 lemon)
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt


  1. Combine all ingredients in a food processor or blender and blend until smooth - this will take a minute or two. You will need to scrape down the sides a few times with a rubber spatula to ensure everything is well blended. If your hummus is too thick for your liking add a tablespoon of water at a time, blend and check the consistency before adding more.


  • chickpeas substitution - any white bean
  • water substitutions - olive brine, aquafaba (liquid in chickpea can), olive oil, avocado oil, grapeseed oil
  • don't have a rubber spatula? you can use a butter knife or spoon.
  • add olives and replace water with olive brine (liquid from olive jar) for tasty olive flavor!
